The StarCraft 2 Editor

Blizzard, an American video game developer, plans to market “premium StarCraft 2” maps for a cost. It appears that the sky is the limit. The maps have been shown by Blizzard as created in the StarCraft 2 editor of the game. This is an action game. Blizzard displayed the maps during a StarCraft 2 gaming panel held at BlizzCon. The first two maps were explained as a “3rd person action RPG” and as a “Galaga space shooter”. The third map is about how players generate new enemies including one that they custom-made called “Mega Zeng”. Joystiq reports that it is possible to have an FPS. Blizzard has one map showing the starring character. It is from the StarCraft Ghost that has been long cancelled. Apparently, it was developed in only a number of hours. It has a great flexibility and it is interesting to see the kind of craze that will arise when StarCraft 2 will be available to the excited gamers next year.

Many people anticipated the release of the 9th patch for StarCraft 2 since it came along with the awaited StarCraft 2 map editor. The log wait is worth it for eager gamers. The map editor is among the top sophisticated map editors available currently. It takes the original map for StarCraft and builds on it. Aside from making the StarCraft 2 map, this program could perform many functions. At an initial look, the map editor looks confusing. However, after spending more time adjusting a few items and with practice, it turns out to be easier. It would appear that the map editor is just the beta form. It was put out together in a patch with the StarCraft 2 beta. Blizzard may have more ideas on this feature and are only currently observing how people are reacting to it. What the map creators previously accomplished in this brief span of time proves that it is not going to disappoint Blizzard.

As seen in the game, the map editor offers a feature for a view in first person, moving with WASD, adding capabilities to characters and weapons. It appears as if it is just begin of what is to be created in connection to games in the 1st person view. In addition, the gamer sees a nuke hit his base, which could be a shocking sight. Nobody would of course want that to happen. All of the units have the possibility to perform anything. Using creativity, they could have Hydralisks that shoot Siege Tank rounds to mini Ultralisks and flying Drones.

Some gamers out there can mix creativity with humor. This is just another exciting function of the map editor and who knows what will come next, from zany games like Go-Kart racing to Tetris. The StarCraft 2 editor can possibly be very difficult to figure out even it may appear to be simple and easy. However, despite the rewards, tons of work is necessary to learn the full potential of the game in order to take advantage of everything that it has to offer.
