Leveling is a time taking process in the World of Warcraft. As a new player the game can be quite confusing and it will take some time to discover all the areas, figure out how to do certain quests and to discover how everything in WoW actually works. There’s a good chance that you already have a few friends on the server where you start playing and what is more fun than joining in the fun with them. First however, you will have to deal with the dredge of leveling. You do have something to look forward to while leveling since most of the fun things in WoW happen when you reach level 80. You can start playing some serious PvP, gather the finest gear in dungeons and raids and can finally optimize your professions. On top of that gold comes a lot easier at the higher levels. Knowing all that you probably want to get to level 80 as fast as possible and I can’t really blame you for that. In this article you can read how you can level up at maximum speed.
Questing is the way to go
There are several ways of leveling in WoW - You can play PvP, grind mobs or complete quests. During the first four years of WoW’s existence gaining experience in PvP was not possible. Since one of the recent patches you can gain experience in PvP. At some point everybody was playing PvP because of it since the experienced gained through PvP was nice and you could already start gathering honorable kills and PvP gear while you were at it. Because everybody decided to play PvP, WoW balanced the game a bit again by heavily decreasing the experience gained in battlegrounds. Because of that particular change regarding the gaining of experience in battlegrounds, playing PvP while leveling is not advised since it will slow you down, a lot. It slows you down so much that I would even advise you to ignore playing PvP until you are level 80 and can also start purchasing the highest level of PvP gear.
Grinding mobs is another way to gain experience. With grinding we basically mean travelling to a certain part on the map and slay the same monsters over and over. Leveling like this is not necessarily slow but it is really boring and it’s a fact that questing just happens to be a lot faster. When it comes to questing you gain nice amounts of experience when handing in quests but on top of that you also gain the normal experience for slaying monsters which is often a requirement for questing.
The only thing that slows you down when questing is the fact that you need to know where you have to pick up quests, where to complete them and where to hand them in. The traveling also slows you down a bit. Most of the things that slow you down can be avoided when you know where to go and what to do. If you are leveling a character for the first time and want to speed things up you should try out a leveling guide, install the in-game addon and follow the instructions you get, this can save you loads of time. The second time you level a character you are already familiar with the quests which means that things‘ll go a lot faster. Anyway, whatever your situation is like, remember that questing has proven to be the fastest way to level up a character.
